Rising costs are on the minds of everyone these days, and Bucks County Republicans are seeking to provide families with a tax credit for youth sports activities to offset those costs announcing two bills – one in the House and the second in the Senate and wanting families to sign a petition in support of the measures.
Senator Frank Farry is the prime sponsor of the measure called the “Reducing Financial Barriers to Youth Activity Participation” bill
Farry said good legislation often takes years to become law. With enough support from families, lawmakers can show their colleagues that Pennsylvania families want and need this tax credit.

State Rep Joe Hogan is the prime sponsor of the House version of the bill with Reps K.C. Tomlinson, Kristin Marcell, Shelby Labs and Craig Staats as co-sponsors.
The legislation would provide families with a tax credit of up to $2,000 per child for eligible youth activities.
Under this legislation, parents of Pennsylvania primary and secondary students would be eligible for a tax credit of up to $2,000 to offset the costs of qualifying expenses related to youth sports and activities—including equipment, travel costs, and team fees, Hogan said.
As lawmakers head back to Harrisburg next week, Farry said they need the community’s help to get the legislation moving in the Capitol.
The bills have been referred to their respective finance committees.
