The Summer Olympics 2024, hosted by Paris, France, started Friday night with opening ceremonies. The competition started Saturday. Each day, Lower Bucks Source will post the United States medal recap, sourced by the official page of the Olympics.
At Paris 2024, the United States will be looking to extend its winning streak both in the gold medal count and overall medal count to the fourth and eight consecutive Olympic Games, respectively. Athletics and swimming should still be the main sources of medals. Olympic veterans like gymnast Simone Biles, basketball player LeBron James, swimmer Katie Ledecky, equestrian Steffen Peters and shooter Vincent Hancock, among many others familiar and new faces who are hopeful for a medal, according to the official Olympics page.

USA is in 5th place for gold medals, with one gold, three silver and two bronzes, for a total of six medals overall.
Californian Haley Batten, 25, takes the silver in Sunday’s Women’s Cross-Country – Cycling Mountain Bike event, while the gold was won by France.
A bronze was captured in Saturday’s Cycling Road event by Chloe Dygert, 27 of Colorado.
On Saturday, July 27, in the Women’s Synchronized 3m Diving Springboard competition, Sarah Bacon, 27, and Kassidy Cook, 29, took home the silver losing out on the gold by a little over 23 points to the China team of Chang Yani, 22, and Chen Yiwen, 25.
The swimming events featured three sub-events, Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay, Women’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay and the Women’s 400m Freestyle.
The United States men took the gold while Australia got the silver and Italy, the bronze in their relay. The United States women unable to duplicate the men’s relay results had to settle for the silver, while Australia took the gold and China, the bronze. In the individual women’s swimming competition, Katie Ledecky, 27, of Florida, got a bronze medal behind Australia’s Ariarne Titmus (gold) and Canada’s Summer McIntosh (silver).
