Fire Weather Watch Issued for Bucks by NWS

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a fire weather watch for all of Bucks County on Thursday.

NWS  said the watch is in effect from Friday, Nov. 1, afternoon through Friday evening because gusty winds and low relative humidity are forecasted for Friday. The warning comes on the heel of brush fires reported throughout the area, with one igniting in the Trevose section of Bensalem Township Thursday night.

A Fire weather watch means a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels could very well lead to fires igniting and spreading quickly due to the synergistic effect of the conditions.

Winds are expected to come from the west at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The relative humidity is predicted to be as low as 28%, with temperatures to be in the mid to upper 70s, forecasters said.

NWS advises all to take precautionary measures by listening for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings. Also to visit your state forestry or environmental protection websites for more information about wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education.
