Flex Force Training Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Flex Force Training, a locally-owned gym offering personal training, small group training, and group classes in Hulmeville, is celebrating a milestone anniversary of 10 years in business!

Since its founding, owner Katey Smyth has prioritized creating an environment where there’s a plan for everyone no matter where they are in their fitness journey. With this approach, it’s no wonder that even as so many larger brand-name gyms closed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Flex Force Training grew a loyal clientele, and even expanded their physical space at Johnson Hall (3 Hulme Avenue, Hulmeville, PA 19047) over the past year to include a 1,900 square foot class space and spin studio. These new spaces have enhanced their pilates, dance fit, yoga, and special event offerings like country line dancing. The spin room contains state-of-the-art Stages spin bikes and high-end themed lighting. Flex Force makes it a priority that clients feel ownership over their fitness journeys by custom designing it alongside their trainers.

“Our mission at Flex Force Training is pretty simple: We are a place where people can come on their good days and on their bad days. That’s why we’re here,” said Smyth.

Even if physical fitness is not an outright priority, Flex Force hosts events designed to be a fun night out that gets people moving and socializing, rather than an outright exercise regime. Locals flock to Country Line Dancing Night, a BYOB event which takes place on the last Friday of every month from 7:00-10:00 PM. No experience or membership is required to enjoy the line dancing, and dancers are encouraged to wear their best Western gear.

As Flex Force Training looks ahead to the next ten years, Smyth understands the value of events like these to build an atmosphere of community in a space that can sometimes feel intimidating, particularly to newcomers.

“Everyone is on their own journey in how they take care of their bodies,” said Smyth. “I’m glad that my gym is a place where people can come and feel like they have a support system on that journey. The past ten years have been really rewarding and transformative, and yet it also feels like we’re just getting started.”
