Bensalem Townships Council meeting on Jan. 5th was the beginning of a new start for the council, as they swore in three new council members and selected a new Council President and vice president, as Democrats are now the majority in Bucks County’s largest municipality population wise.
The meeting started off with the swearing in of the three new council members, Ed Tokmajian, Jr,. Jesse Sloan and Joseph Wenzel, who were voted into position at last years local elections.
From there, Bensalem’s Council voted for the next Council President and Vice president to replace Joseph Knowles and Edward Kisselback. The Council voted in favor of Tokmajian Jr. as Council President, and Sloan for Council Vice President.
“Tonight is about moving Bensalem forward together.” Tokmajian Jr stated at the meeting. “As council members, we were elected to represent the residents of this town, and that responsibility comes first.”

Tokmajian Jr. went on to state that he looks forward to working with the mayor and their team, and hopes that doing so will prove that in spite of all the political divide in the county, local leaders will set their differences aside to work for their respective communities.
“While we may not always agree, we share a goal of serving the people of Bensalem with integrity , with transparency, and with a commitment to doing what’s best for Bensalem.”
Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo echoed Tokmajian Jr’s message about working together as a team to continue to make Bensalem a great place.
“These are extraordinary times for Bensalem. We have a lot to work on, there’s a lot to get done here, there’s so much we can accomplish working together.”
