With most of Lower Bucks County school districts are starting classes  today, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory saying the hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat related illnesses.

Forecasters say heat index values are expected to reach 100 degrees!

According to the NWS, the forecast for today calls for a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m..

Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

The hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses, officials say, it is recommended, to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

NWS says take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Open school districts, as of 4:05 a.m. Tuesday, have announced no changes for classes today.
