The National Weather Service says  a dangerous heat wave is going to impact the  Lower Bucks County area just as the national celebration of the semiquincentennial begins later this week.

Forecasters issued an extreme heat watch to take effect beginning Wednesday afternoon into Saturday evening.

The watch was issued, just before 4 a.m. Sunday.

“With dangerous heat and humidity returning late next week, there is the potential for a few high temperature records to be broken, particularly on Thursday. Here is a list of the high temperature records for Thursday & Friday” NWS Philadelphia -Mt Holly, said across its socials.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 or visit your county or state health department website for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.

Very warm low temperatures in the low to mid 70s at night will not offer any relief from the heat. This
combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity, NWS says.
