Silver Lake Nature Center Spring Events!!

Our neighbors at the Silver Lake Nature Center will be hosting a number of family-friendly outings this Spring. Local anglers might want to circle May 7, as one of the must attend events as its “Free Family Fishing Day” at SLNC. Registration is required.

Upcoming Events at Silver Lake Nature Center for Spring 2023 

Saturday Morning Bird Walks. Saturday Morning Bird Walks are offered from March through May (and September through November) at 7:30am. Bring your binoculars if you have a pair! Meet at the Welcome Kiosk outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center. FREE.

Volunteer Work Days. Join us on the first Saturday of each month, from 9am to 12pm to help keep the beautiful SLNC Trails/Grounds so beautiful. Be prepared to get wet and dirty. Bring a refillable water bottle. This event is Rain or Shine. Meet at the SLNC Pavilion (near the SLNC Visitors’ Center).  Register at www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177.

“IPR Team” Volunteer Project Day. Saturdays: April 15th; May 13th; and June 17th, 10am-12pm. The “Invasive Plants Removal (IPR) Team” now meets ONCE A MONTH to help clear Invasive Plants from specific areas on the SLNC Grounds/Trails. Each season brings new plants in various degrees of difficulty, and will also serve as a learning opportunity! These Project Days also involve planting native plants and trees. Meeting places vary on the SLNC Grounds, so please be sure to register in advance. Register at www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177. 

Earthship Tours. Saturdays: April 15th; May 13th; and June 10th, 1pm-2:30pm. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures!  Tours are FREE, but donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are greatly appreciated. Family-friendly Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails. Sunday, April 16th, 1pm to 2pm. Families and Individuals are welcome to participate. This event is offered monthly. Check the website for other upcoming dates. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the Parking Area. Special Presentation: The History of Silver Lake by Local Historian/Photographer]\Clarence King. Saturday, April 29th, 7pm. Due to popular demand, Mr. King is coming out of “retirement” (from SLNC Presentations) and returning to share his fascinating presentation on the history of Silver Lake, which also includes Bristol Borough & Bristol Township, spanning the past 300 years! Fee: $10/person. 100% of proceeds benefit the nonprofit Friends of SLNC organization.

FREE Family Fishing Day. Sunday, May 7th, 11am-2pm. This fun, free, informative event is sponsored by the Delaware River Fishermen’s Association. Activities will include learning about fish identification, fishing equipment, and fishing techniques. If you have a fishing pole, please feel free to bring it. There will also be a limited supply on-hand to use.

**Please note that participants over 16 years old need to have a valid fishing license in order to fish during the event.**

Day-off from School Camp. Tuesday, May 16th, 9am-4pm. Why only have Camp in the summer when you can do it in all seasons?! SLNC’s School-year Camp Days are scheduled for days when most schools are off. Each Camp Day provides exciting seasonal adventures for your child (5 – 14 years old). Bucks County Yoga Festival. Saturday, May 20th!! A full day of classes and workshops taught by some of the area’s best instructors and facilitators. Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, Energy work, Sound Healing, Lectures, Special topics, Art therapy, and more. Choose your own schedule and create your own experience! Vendor fair and food truck area is open to the public. Classes & workshops are for ticket holders only. GATHER with the yoga community at Silver Lake Nature Center and Park. Family-friendly “April Showers Bring May Flowers” Event. Saturday, May 27th, 12:30pm-1:30pm. Join us for a story-time, walnut basket flower craft, and search for May flowers. Friends are also invited to arrive early (at Noon) and bring your Lunch for a picnic at the SLNC Pavilion (nearby to the SLNC Visitors’ Center and the Natural Play Area) with Ms. Trisha!

The Silver Lake Nature Center, where learning comes naturally, is a 264-acre Nature Preserve located in Bristol Township, Bucks County. It is a facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation with additional funding and staffing provided by the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center nonprofit organization. SLNC is home to over 40 plant and animal species listed as rare, threatened, or endangered in Pennsylvania. Participation in programs helps protect these species and their habitats. SLNC does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its programs, activities, or facilities. People with special needs are asked to give advance notice.

The Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation was established in 1953. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, development, and preservation of open space and regional parks. The Department seeks in every endeavor to improve the quality of life and environment for all Bucks County residents, by working to enhance existing and projected recreational and cultural needs for our County.
