Late last year among the number of projects Bristol Borough said it planned on working on was making needed investments in the Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center (BBAAC) center that sits on Wood Street.
BBAAC will now have $1200.00 a month extra available for programming and other identified center needs, the borough announced last night at its monthly meeting.
Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said the borough is taking care of the center’s insurance costs saving it just under $14,500 annually.
According to Census and American Community Survey Data approximately 23 percent of the just under 10,000 people living in Bristol Borough are 62 years or older with about 1,000 residents (ages 55 to 61) approaching 62 years old and it is no secret the center could use all the help it can get.
DiGuiseppe authorized Borough Manager James Dillon to finalize the deal making it official beginning August 12, 2025.
In other related Council news members approved truck related signage to be installed on Radcliffe, Pond and Beaver Streets. The Borough awarded a $10,000.00 contract to ETC to create and install signs.
Truck traffic through the Borough has drawn the ire of many residents. In some cases access to certain residential streets has been blocked with concrete barriers at the intersection of Prospect and Beaver Streets.
The Borough is considering a truck ban ordinance for Beaver, Jefferson and Pond Streets. Officials did not immediately respond to requests for an update on where the ban ordinance process is currently.
One last Council related note, members approved the hiring of Yvonne Trausi as Parking Enforcer/Ticket Writer at $15.00 per hour.
