Bristol Borough’s Raising the Bar community organization is seeking to purchase a vacant borough property for the creation of a park, officials said Monday night.
The vacant lot, located at the corner of Market and Wood Streets, sits across the street from the Bristol Fire Volunteer Company 51 and has been vacant for years due to a 2013 fire this writer reported on for another publication.
Borough Manager James Dillon said with help from the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County (RDA) RTB is in the process of purchasing the property.
According to Bristol Borough documents, the RDA will make a funding application to Bucks County for Community Development Block Grant support.
President of Raising the Bar, Bill Pezza did not respond to a request for additional information on the community organizations park plans. Raising the Bar has been instrumental in making Bristol a must stop locality for events, culture, and mural designs and more in recent years.
Pezza also serves on the RDA’s Board of Directors.
The organization recently claimed another event success last moth as the wold famous Budweiser Clydesdales visited the town for the second time which brought out thousands of visors to Historic Bristol.
In Pezza’s words “success breeds more success” and that might come to fruition for Raising the Bar and Bristol with a project to beautify and improve the borough’s look by taking possession of what can be gently described as an ugly lot.
