Two state Democrats announced Bristol Borough will receive $460,000 in state funds for a project designed to construct stabilization measures along Adams Hollow Creek.

The joint announcement  from State Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10) and State Representative Tina Davis, came late last week as flooding in Bristol Borough was still receding from Borough streets.

The project is funded, through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), will focus on the  Adams Hollow Creek area between North Cedar Street and Radcliffe Street, officials said.

“Restoring the streambank is critical to preserving the natural landscape and protecting the residential dwellings in the surrounding area,” said Santarsiero.  “These funds will enable Bristol Borough to mitigate future damage from flooding, keeping the borough a desirable place for economic growth and development.”

“Preventing flooding through the Adams Hollow Creek project is important for the economic status of Bristol Borough as many businesses are within close proximity to the creek. This grant is important toward moving this project forward,” Davis said.

Flooding has and continues to be a hot button topic in the borough, as many residents continue to point to issues at the Mill Street parking lot. Even as residents become more educated about the flood plain it rests upon and its close proximity to the Delaware Riverbank. Bristol officials have continuously said the completed work on the storm water system would not end the flooding at the lot when heavy and prolonged rainfall but would it improve it.
