Community Cleanup & BBQ Set for Vermillion Hills this Weekend

Kelley Galloway was walking through the Vermillion Hills neighborhood she lived in all her life in Falls Township and thought to herself, “wouldn’t it be nice to have a community cleanup topped off by a Barbeque?”

And so it goes, Galloway’s idea has now come to fruition as she and Joe Santini are organizing a community based cleanup and cookout event this Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm in Vermillion Hills.

Galloway, the daughter of State Representative John Galloway (D-Bucks), said after a year plus of social distancing, we could all use an excuse to meet up, catch up, and have fun!

The genesis for the cleanup came to Galloway when she was walking her dog recently.

Every day when I walk my dog in the neighborhood I notice certain pockets where there are small amounts of garbage and broken glass, she said, and obviously this is a great way for neighbors to get together in the name of community.

The cleanup will consist of meeting for a few hours in the morning to help beautify the neighborhood (all supplies provided), followed by a post-cleanup BBQ and neighborhood hangout, organizers said.

All volunteers will be given a “Vermillion Hills” t-shirt to show their neighborhood pride  and are invited to stick around to mingle and catch up with neighbors over food and drink from local vendors that will be totally free, said Galloway.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the form found at this link, Galloway suggested.

If you can’t help clean up but still want to join us for the after party, we’d still love it if you could sign up to let us know how much food and drink to have on hand, she said
