Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program, also called Medical Assistance, will undergo significant updates beginning in 2027 following federal law changes.
State legislators and officials note that although full guidance has not been finalized, federal shifts will introduce more frequent reporting schedules and enhanced activity requirements.
-
Medicaid plans will be renewed every six months rather than annually for selected adult enrollees.
-
Certain adult recipients are now required to participate in work, school, job training, volunteerism, or other community activities to remain eligible.
State officials advise current Medicaid recipients to make sure that their contact and mailing addresses are current with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) to ensure critical notices are received.
Detailed information will be released closer to the implementation date of Jan. 1, 2027. Additional updates on the rollout are available on the DHS website.
