Sunshine Foundation, the original wish-granting organization, founded by Philadelphia Police Officer, Bill Sample, nearly 50 years ago in 1976, recently received a check to support a dream of a local child with special needs.
Alessandra, is a Bucks County child living with a congenital condition known as optic nerve hypoplasia. Her condition causes significant visual impairment, and her family hopes the trip to Universal Orlando Resort and the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village will provide e a much-needed break from daily challenges.
“Allie’s diagnosis affects her daily living. This trip would be extremely therapeutic for Allie and a break from the stress of everyday life, and a break from all her appointments. A chance for her to simply be a kid,” said Alessandra’s mom.
Sean Pena from his “Did We Win” softball team presented Sunshine Foundation president, Kate Sample, with a check to help finish the funding needed to answer Alessandra’s Magical Dream.
“Sunshine Foundation is honored to benefit from the incredible generosity of Sean and his amazing “Did We Win” Softball Team, along with their family and friends, at their annual banquet! What an exciting evening as funds were raised to make Alessandra’s dream come true,” said Kate Sample.
“So many people told me how happy they were to be supporting Sunshine Foundation after learning about it and hearing the story of Bill Sample,” said Pena.
“Thank you to all the wonderful groups and businesses in our community for helping us Spread Sunshine and continue to make Dreams Come True for local children with lifelong special needs, children who would not get a dream through any other wish-granting organization!” said Kate Sample.
