Lower Makefield Township (LMT) is pleased to announce that our partnership with 9-11 Memorial Garden of Reflection, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity, to provide for the ongoing maintenance of our 9-11 Memorial has culminated in the first annual reimbursement to the Township, covering all landscaping costs associated with the memorial.

“The Township is deeply grateful to 9-11 Memorial Garden of Reflection, Inc. for their continued partnership and generous financial support,”  said David W. Kratzer, Jr, Township Manager.

Ellen Saracini, Chair of the nonprofit entity said  “We are very pleased to provide financial support for the maintenance of The Garden via the Remembrance Fund endowment, a fund established by our nonprofit organization in 2011 to ensure that these expenses do not fall on the taxpayers of Lower Makefield Township. It was always our intent to make The Garden a self-sufficient 9-11 Memorial, given the fact that the memorial serves to recognize, honor, and memorialize not only the nine LMT victims, but also the 18 Bucks County victims and, in fact, all 2,977 victims of the attacks on our nation.”

As an additional benefit to the residents of LMT, the Remembrance Fund was also able to cover the landscaping costs incurred from the front entrance of Memorial Park up to the Flag Circle, including the Oak Garden Arboretum, officials said. These areas are shared by park and memorial visitors, and although LMT is responsible for their maintenance, we have covered the costs this year and will consider doing so in future years as well, due to their importance in providing access to The Garden and creating a beautiful buffer zone surrounding the memorial, Saracini said.

“We thank all the donors to the Remembrance Fund endowment who have made these reimbursements possible, and we look forward to continuing to provide for the maintenance of The Garden in perpetuity, ensuring that future generations will Never Forget.”
