On Friday at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA grabbed six medals and even though USA still has the most medals of the games, they were unable to capture gold on that day.
USA slipped to fourth place in the gold medal race. USA held at nine golds while China in the number one spot had 13 at the end of Friday. USA still holds the title for most medals, jumping from 37 on Thursday to 43 on Friday.
Highlight on Pennsylvanian Casey Kaufhold – August 2:
Casey Kaufhold (feature picture – Credit:TeamUSA) was born in Pennsylvania 20 years ago. Her TeamUSA profile shows she is a 2-time Olympian and got her first medal on Friday. She began shooting at an early age. Her parents own the world’s leading archery supply store, and passed their passion for Archery down to Casey and her brother, Connor. Kaufhold became the first U.S. woman to hold the World No. 1 ranking in women’s recurve in 2023. Her go-to song before a competition is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. For more on Kaufhold, click here.
USA Medal Recap for events – August 2:
In Archery, Casey Kaufhold, 20 of Pennsylvania, and Brady Ellison, 35 of Arizona, picked up the bronze in the Mixed Team Event.
In Athletics, Grant Fisher, 27 of Utah held on for the bronze medal during the 10,000m event. It has been 12 years since an American medaled in the 10,000.
USA swimmer Regan Smith, 22 of Texas, picked up her third silver medal in Paris, this time in the women’s 200m backstroke.
USA won a equestrian silver in the jumping team event. The USA team consisted of McLain Ward, 48 of New York, Kent Farrington, 43 of Florida, 48-yrar-old Laura Kraut, and 33-year-old Karl Cook.
Sagen Maddalena, 30 of Georgia, won her first medal, a silver in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event in the sport of shooting.
Eight years later, USA medals in sailing. In their Olympic debut, the team of Ian Barrows, 29, and Hans Henken, 32, took bronze in the men’s skiff event.
