3-Month Road Closure for Sections of Roads in Newtown Due to PECO Operations

PennDOT announced PECO Energy will be performing utility improvement operations on two state highways in Newtown Borough and Newtown Township beginning Monday.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Monday, July 21, through Friday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Centre Avenue will be closed weekdays from Sycamore Street to State Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 332 (Newtown Bypass) and Sycamore Street.
• Monday, July 21, through Friday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., State Street will be closed weekdays from Centre Avenue to Fountain Farm Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 332 (Newtown Bypass) and Sycamore Street.

Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PECO Energy will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
