5 K Shamrock Shuffle Set for Next Week, Runner Slots Still Available

An annual run in Newtown  seeks to raise funds for cancer research still has openings for runners.

On Saturday March 12th, Newtown will be hosting their annual Shamrock Shuffle 5k run. The run starts at 9 a.m on North State Street, near Washington Ave, and runners are asked to finish the race by 10 a.m. 

This year’s charity partner for the run is “A love For Life”, whose goal is to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research. Those who participate in the race will receive a finisher medal and shirt. After the race, entertainment will be provided with runners having the choice of a complimentary drink of Mimosa or green beer.

Along with food specials, live entertainment will be featured after the race. 

Newtown police would like to let residents know that temporary road closures will start at 8:30am on the day of the event. They also advise anybody attending the event to park at the Stocking Works 311 South State Street and the parking lot across from Old Saint Andrews Church on South Sycamore Street.
