“Art That Blooms” Collaborative Exhibit in Newtown at BCCC

A sampling of the interpretive floral displays by Bucks County Community College students entered in the 2023 “Art That Blooms” exhibition, an exquisite fusion of art and floral design that is open to the public on November 9 and 10, 2024.

As gorgeous blooms seamlessly blend with fabulous art, floral and art students will showcase their finest floral-themed works at the Newtown Campus Hicks Art Center this weekend, featuring dozens of stunning floral displays, incredible paintings, beautiful glass sculptures, and stunning woodworking.

A collaboration between Bucks County Community College’s Continuing Education Floral Design program and the Arts and Communication Department will host the third annual Art That Blooms Exhibition this Saturday and Sunday, November 9-10.

The Art Department and the Continuing Education Department floral team and students will demonstrate floral design techniques during the festival. There will be free make-and-take sessions for kids and adults throughout the weekend as well as demonstrations every hour.

Community members are free to attend the festival, and plenty of free parking is available. On Saturday and Sunday, attendees can purchase refreshments from a food truck. On both days, makers will sell their products outside Hicks Art Center.

An invitation-only opening night will be held on Friday, November 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Members of the press are welcome to attend. There will be a Designer of the Year contest during opening night and also at the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, and ends at 4 p.m., with 30-minute live demonstrations every hour from both artistic disciplines. During the “Make & Take” portion of the event, children and adults can participate in free hands-on activities

On Sunday, November 10, starting at 11 a.m., there will be 30-minute live demonstrations from both artistic disciplines every hour at the top and bottom of the hour until 3 pm.  Award ceremonies will follow, and prizes will be given for Showpiece, Designer of the Year Competition, and People’s Choice. Both adults and children can take part in these free hands-on sessions.
