Last week. Lower Bucks Source was the first to report Neshaminy Mall will close as of October 31st.
In light of that report, along with plans for flattening of Sears and Macy’s buildings at the mall, Bensalem Township Council President Ed Tokmajian Jr. and Councilman Joe Wenzel Jr. posted a video clip, Sunday night, “providing an update on the news surrounding the mall’s future, and asked the community what the new destination spot should be named if it were up to them.
Paramount Realty and Edgewood Properties took ownership of the property purchasing it for a reported $27.5 million in 2024, and now the excitement is starting to build about what comes next.
The councilmen noted in the roughly 90-second clip that while there is still a lot that has to happen, they offered a glimpse into how they would like to see project move forward—specifically, the idea of a modern shopping complex featuring new restaurants and other amenities.
The question isn’t what happens to the mall, the question is how does the community reimagine it to be? the councilman asked.
To date, no official plans have been submitted to the township. However, recent developments related to the mall, along with the strong possibility of a New York-based company moving its headquarters to Bensalem, bode well for the economic future of the township.
For now, the mall remains an empty dark cavernous set of structures awaiting new life.
That new life will perhaps come in the form of the mixed-use model, similar to the one implemented at the Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown Township, with a community-family friendly themed concept.
