Bristol Boroughs’ Mill Street is now lined with restaurants, cafés, and various specialty retailers.
Earlier this month it welcomed an entirely different kind of business to add to its eclectic offerings with the opening of the Kings Highway Comedy Club nestled into a 2nd floor space where laughter has found a new home permanently, owner Dave Collins hopes.
Collins said he had been looking into opening a comedy club on Mill Street for about two years.
Mill Street, he said, at one time years ago was called Kings Highway.
“That’s how I knew Mill St would be the perfect spot to open. Plus there is nothing like it here entertainment wise. It is the perfect location.”
The evening Lower Bucks Source visited was a Thursday Open Mic night, held weekly, with up and comers plying their trade on the other would be comedians from the area. Comics get 5 minutes each to do a bit and the only rule is there are no rules.
Levittown’s Eric Todd was among the 30 or so comics to sign up to perform one of his many bits. Todd is a well known local comic who launched Laughs for Recovery several years ago said that the comic spot coming to Bristol adds a little something different for those looking for something interesting and fun to do.
“I think this is a good thing for Mill St,” Todd said “Being the first comedy club here is going to be good for Dave (owner) and I love his wife, she’s really hot.”
Slamming Jimmy Grammond said he’s just getting back to the scene after taking the last 10 years off.
“I’m excited for the club opened …the more spots the better. It gives everyone a fair shake. A lot of the younger comics can come here and work their bits now.”

The small intimate room seats 50, Collins said, and he designed it that way.
I wanted customers to experience the intimacy of being close to our performers while at the same time, the comic actually being able to see how the laughs they’re creating spread in the audience.

Open Mic nights there is no admission but a sense of humor is required.
