A Penndel Borough man drinking at party in New York has been charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and related offenses connected to a dispute at a July 3 party in Wellsville, NY, said New York State Police.

According to New York State Police, Troopers were dispatched at approximately 9:45 p.m. to Smith Hollow Road in the town of Wellsville for a shooting involving injury.  The investigation determined that after several hours of consuming alcohol,  Gregory S. Miller, 54  had a verbal argument with the 48-year-old male victim. Miller then went to his vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, and returned with a Springfield Armory .45 ACP. Miller then fired the gun several times at the victim, striking him one time in the lower left leg.  Miller was disarmed and held down by the others at the party until Troopers arrived on scene and took Miller into custody. The victim was originally taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, NY for the non-life-threatening injury to his leg.  He was later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for further treatment.

Miller was transported to State Police Amity, processed and  later transported to Allegany County Jail for his arraignment.

The  Allegany County District Attorney’s Office has yet to list Miller’s next expected court date.

This is a developing story.
