Fate for Historic Stockham Building Still in Limbo

The long wait continues for Morrisville to see what the future holds for the Stockham Building.

After years of waiting and frustration, hope seemed to come alive when in September of 2024  the property owners’ architect Rustin Olher, of Harman, Deutsch, Olher (hdo) revealed initial plans, saying the building overall is in good condition for the length of time it has been vacant.

In December of 2024, hdo Architect Erik Quick gave the final details, saying estimated work on the building could take 14 to 16 months once it begins. Planners hoped work could get underway in March of 2025 but funding and financing could delay it by a month or so.

Spring of 2025 came and went with no work and more delays.  In May of 2025, the future started to look uncertain as many structural issues came to light and the property owners needed to decide in June whether to fix or demolish the building.

At the Morrisville Borough Council July 15th meeting, the Isett Group was scheduled to present an update and or decision on whether to move forward, however, representatives from the group did not appear.

Key priorities still include addressing cellular and utility connections onsite, removing old equipment, and resolving utility issues before further action can be taken. Code enforcement and the building’s owner(s) are being urged to resolve the building’s situation, officials said.

Once structual issues were disclosed, a safety fence went about two months ago at the historic Stockham Building and remains in place currently.
