A 67 year-old Levittown woman is being charged by Warrington authorities for threatening SEPTA Bus riders and making racially incendiary remarks making a normal everyday bus ride volatile experience at the very least, police said.

According to Warrington Township Police,  on February 10, 2026, at approximately 2:32  p.m, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Easton Road and Maple Avenue for a report of a disorderly passenger on a SEPTA bus.

A caller said that a woman passenger was brandishing a knife and making threats directed at bus passengers

Upon arrival, witnesses told police the woman passenger  had been shouting obscenities and racial slurs at other passengers, police said.

Officers located the subject, identified as Joan Merritt, 67, of Levittown, at a nearby Wawa.

Merritt, according to police,  admitted to the verbal altercation but claimed the weapon reported was a pair of cuticle scissors.

Officers noted Merritt continued to use racial slurs during the investigation.

Merritt, police said,  was subsequently cited for disorderly conduct.

Merritt has history of disorderly conduct in public settings

She’s was cited for disorderly conduct by Bensalem Police last fall, Bucks County Park Police for fighting in 2023 and has a simple assault conviction, according to online court records.

Merritt will be charged by mail summons and has no court appearance date set as of publication time.
