 Pope Francis died at 7:35 a.m. on Monday, one day after appearing at an Easter Sunday service at the age 0f 88

 Francis, beloved by parishioners world wide died at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Marta, as confirmed by the Holy See Press Office. The 88-year-old pontiff led the Catholic Church for 12 years.

Pope Francis appeared on Easter Sunday blessing thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square. Before hand, he met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, said AP News.

The Argentine-born Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis on March 13, 2013, as the 266th pope. He set a different tone for the papacy, stressing humility for a Catholic Church beset by scandal and accusations of indifference, reported AP.com
