The Pennsylvania State Police expect to begin seizing ‘skill games’ on Oct. 14, the day after the expiration of the state Supreme Court’s stay of an order finding the machines to be illegal.
According to a release last week, “state police may take enforcement action against businesses which continue to possess, operate and/or maintain such machines” after the stay lifts next month.
Those actions “may include seizing and forfeiting the machines, associated equipment and money associated with the operation of the machines and/or filing criminal charges where deemed appropriate.”
All “skill game” devices/slot machines throughout the Commonwealth outside of licensed casinos and truck stops are unlawful and all establishments possessing, operating and/or maintaining such machines are subject to criminal prosecution and immediate seizure of the machines as of October 14, 2026, authorities said.
In Lower Bucks County skill games are commonly found in tobacco shops, gas stations, grocery stores, and pizza shops.
