After opening for business a little more than two years ago big box retailer Total Liquidators  announced it was closing its Bristol Park Shopping Center location last week.

The retailer announced it would close its doors Saturday at 3 pm, and offered “amazing” sale prices up until officially closing yesterday.

Officials across Total Liquidator social media platforms said there was some good news to share announcing plans to open up a location in Bensalem and in Montgomery County – Lansdale this year.

Prior to the retail outlet renting the 120,000 square foot warehouse, the Bristol Indoor Flea Market rented the space on a short -term lease. Just as the flea market was kicking into high gear, Coronavirus struck the area leading to businesses shutting down. The flea market pivoted quickly to operating outdoors in the parking lot, however public safety concerns led to its eventual shutdown.

Owner operator Brixmor Property Group has been trying to fill warehouse sized vacancy since Walmart shutdown operations in Bristol Borough in late 2017.

During the years following, rumors and unconfirmed gossip had a number of supermarket chains stores or other retailers moving into the space, none of which ever materialized.

Weeks after Total Liquidators opened, Family Dollar also opened up for business in the shopping center.

Since the closing announcement, locals have been weighing in on what should occupy the now  open space and apparently, according to a number of commenters a supermarket seems to be an option many in Bristol Borough would like to see an alternative to Selecto Supermarket on Pond Street.
