Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge Work Leads to Lane Reduction Until Saturday, Officials Say

Work on the Trenton-Morrisville Toll Bridge began Thursday which reduced traffic to a single lane on northbound Route 1 lasting until Saturday,  Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission  officials said.

Traffic will be narrowed into a single lane on Route 1 approaching the bridge from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, going north from Pennsylvania to New Jersey.

The northbound route is normally three lanes wide, moderate travel delays are expected, officials said,  in the construction zone, which runs from the Delaware Canal viaduct on the Pennsylvania side in Morrisville to beyond the underpass at South Broad Street in Trenton, New Jersey.

The commission announced earlier this month,  that it has awarded a $5.98 million construction contract for milling and paving, roadway repairs, and concrete surface sealing at the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge, its highway approaches, and nearby exit and entry ramps. Road-Con Incorporated is doing the work after winning the contract last month.

The commission said the project is expected to last through October.

There are, on average, 53,300 vehicle crossings per day, making it the commission’s second-busiest bridge, officials have said.
