The Winter Weather Advisory initially posted has turned to a Winter Storm Warning as snowfall accumulations rise past National Weather Service’s (NWS) previous estimates. The warning is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday. Heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches is expected before storm ends.
NWS new forecast for this weekend is:
- Tonight, February 16, snow is expected after 2 a.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total possible nighttime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches.
- Saturday, February 17, snow is expected until 11 a.m., then a chance of snow showers between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times. High will be near 39. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.
NWS advises motorists to plan for slippery road conditions by slowing down and using caution as you travel. Snow and/or sleet accumulations can result in significant travel disruptions. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
