On the heels of Bristol’s Rite Aid and the State Liquor Store announcing their closures, another Bristol store closed their doors.
Customers and employees of Smokin Joe’s at Plaza 13 complex were shocked to find out the store was immediately and permanently closed as of Tuesday, October 3.
Some customers were able to buy products before the closing, which occurred approximately 9 a.m.. The door was then locked, and merchandise started to be removed.
The store manager personally apologizes for the abrupt closure and not being able to inform the customers of the closure, Joanne Ames said.

“This was a corporate decision that took me by surprise. I thank all of the customers who have frequented the store over the years. ”
This came just weeks ahead of their 25th year anniversary. Bristol Smokin’ Joe’s opened on October 31, 1998.
A sign on the front door of Smokin Joe’s directs Bristol customers to visit one of their two Morrisville locations. The company is based out of Wilkes Barre, PA with more than two dozen outlets in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Smokin Joe’s officials did not respond to requests for comment on this story as of Thursday morning.
