Historic Georgine’s Put Up for Sale

The year was 1977. Two brothers, Roy and Michael Nagle, decided to open a restaurant in Bristol. They named the restaurant “Georgine’s” as a tribute to their mother, Georgine, who became the hostess when the restaurant officially opened. Now fast forward 47 years later, Georgine’s is up for sale.

Many things have happened since the doors opened in 1977. Roy retired in 2006 and sadly passed away in 2012.  An offshoot of the original restaurant, Georgine Jr.’s closed their doors on Rt.413 in 2021 after many years of serving the community. Now in 2024, the original Georgine’s, according to the realtors listing  the restaurant, appears poised to close seeking a cool $ 3.8 million according to the listing.

Coming with restaurant in a sale would be a 4-acre property with two buildings totaling 13,500 square feet, a bar, a lounge area, a dining room, a liquor license, catering and banquet halls, the listing reads. The listing says the current owner wants to retire,

The original restaurant was started as a small West Bristol neighborhood bar and soon became an icon to everyone, said on Georgine’s website, who dined out because of the continental menu, large portions, and reasonable prices. In addition to their fine dining, Georgine’s offered outside catering so that the customers could pick up Georgine’s great food to enjoy at their private events.

As the years went on, Georgine’s kept growing. They introduced comedy nights where you experienced fine dining and entertainment. The dining room was expanded, a small cafe and bar was opened, and daily specials were offered.  By 1990, another expansion was undertaken; enlarging the main bar, lounge and dining room. Four banquet rooms were also added for special occasions.

Currently, Michael and the Nagle family still oversee the restaurant. Georgine’s is still known for quality food, generous portions, and affordable prices. It is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner and offers an extensive menu of freshly prepared appetizers, entrées, and desserts. Hours of Operation for Georgine’s is: Tuesdays through Friday – 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday – 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays – 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant was built in 1960 and renovated in 2022.
