Bristolians were horrified Saturday afternoon when a local dog-owner, reported her Chihuahua mix was struck by a vehicle in the area of Otter and Bath Street’s with the motorist never stopping.

The reported hit-and-run created an intense response from locals, many dog owners themselves, who were horrified by the published posts to Facebook authored by Deb Carroll-Giffins.

Carroll-Giffins said the driver of the blue hatchback, has yet to come forward and hopes they do, so her children’s faith in humanity could be restored.

“That’s what I’m really worried about now,” she said Monday afternoon.

“Rob” is all right she said. “He has three bones broken in his front left leg.

“I just worry about what my kids will think about people after this.”

The incident took place around 11:30 a.m.

Carroll-Giffins is asking those living in the area to check their video cameras for a Pepsi blue colored hatchback during that time on their surveillance systems.

Carroll-Giffins said she didn’t file a police report but was happily surprised when Bristol Borough Animal Control checked in with her.

“I thought that was really nice.”

Rob’s got a long way to go in terms of a full recovery but it would just be nice for the driver to step up, she said.
