Work by SEPTA crews started back up recently at the Bristol Regional Rail Station, as plans continue to be devised on a complete overhaul of the station.

Contractors are currently working on stations platform, which has cracks in it. That section of the platform, was boarded up for safety purposes while the work is being completed SEPTA officials said last week.

Last summer, Borough and SEPTA officials, with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R) met at the station to review first steps of the overhaul to the station which included cleaning and painting, installation of new stairway handrails, beam replacement and steel repairs.

Kate O’Connor, SEPTA’s Chief Engineer presented a concept plan of what a full remodel could potentially look like to officials at a council meeting last June.

Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said at Monday nights plans for total station overhaul are still in the works and  looks forward to the day work at the station is completed.

Currently SEPTA is working on the configuration of the station he said. The platforms are in need of work, and hopefully we’ll have a really nice looking new train station soon.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep things moving along” he said of the project.

Draft renderings of what the station could look after a complete overhaul were shared with officials last year.
