Safety changes are coming to the Rt 13 intersection where Josiah Grant was struck and killed this summer.
Bristol Borough officials said Monday, they recently visited the intersection on the borough side with state officials to discuss improvements that will be made in the coming weeks.
Rumble strips and delineators were installed in different sections of the roadway over the last two years following a series of accidents stretching from Bensalem to Falls Township. The delineators were installed at the Rt 13 intersection of Beaver St/Beaver Dam Road shortly thereafter.
Plans now call for PennDOT to extend the delineators temporarily. eventually making the extension permanent by extending the current medium in place of the temporary delineators.
In addition, Bristol Township said it’s planning to place cameras that serve as automatic license plate readers (LPR’s) at two intersections along Rt 13 (Beaver Dam and Edgely Roads) at last month’s council meeting.

The proposed plan came to light during the public comment section of the meeting when local resident Susan Pencola, said she came to speak on behalf of everyone concerned about Rt. 13 and Beaver Dam Road intersection in light of Josiah Grant’s death. She pleaded with township officials to take action saying she collected names in support of improving safety at that intersection, such as extending walk time and installing speed cameras.
“Something needs to be done” with a sincere effort she said.
Twp Manager Randee Mazur said cameras are going to be installed at the intersection but she could not say when, because there was at least one hurdle to jump before the plan could be worked on. She said the township needs the approval from Bristol Borough because the traffic lights at the intersection are shared with the borough and they have authority on them.

Bristol Borough Manager Jim Dillon indicated the borough will approve (or has already) that request saying “The Borough has an excellent relationship with the Township,” Thursday.
PennDOT officials did not immediately respond to requests for information about a timeline for when work on the delineators and medium will take place.
