Two staple businesses in the Bristol Park Shopping center will be closing their doors for good.

Rite Aid is expected to close at the end of this week, September 16 staff and family members of staff told Lower Bucks Source earlier this month. In the same conversation the same source said the  Fine Wine and Good Spirits location would also soon be shutting its doors 9 pm September 30.

Each of the closings are for similar reasons, additional sources said; the landlord is implementing an option in the lease to terminate, they said on the condition of anonymity.

A Rite Aid spokesperson did respond to requests for comment on the planned closure.

Upon telling store employees many gathered outside hugging and crying, onlookers said.

This marks yet another Rite Aid shutdown following a series of closures across the country for the Philadelphia-based chain in 2022. The drugstore chain has closed  more than 150 of its stores since the beginning of last year.

Employees of the Pond Street Rite Aid fear the same will happen to that location, sources said.

“Management isn’t telling us anything. We don’t know how long we’ll be here and if we’ll be here” said one employee who asked to remain anonymous.

Rite Aid reported a loss of $307 million in its most recent publicly available financial statements. According to the Wall Street Journal the company is deliberating over whether it should seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections.

Officials from Brixmor, the shopping centers landlord were unavailable for comment as of the posting of this story.
