Bristol Township Council approved a proposal for the construction of six new townhomes in the township’s Croydon section at last weeks meeting.
Council approved both preliminary and final land development plans for JRZ LLC., which is connected to Zober Industries Inc.
Part of the approval required a zoning change from commercial to residential in order to facilitate the new construction on the property in the 600 block of Coventry Avenue at its Second Avenue intersection which borders Zober.
The plan includes two buildings, each containing three townhomes which will incorporate two underground stormwater basins and provide more parking for both the townhomes and the current business related buildings on the property, Zober officials said.
The developer plans to request the township convert Coventry Avenue, where the development is taking place, into a one-way street to ease traffic flow, Zober officials said.
Demolition of two existing homes on the property, one currently rented and the other vacant for several years is part of the overall plan. A two-car garage and two small commercial buildings on the site will remain as they are, currently.
The Zoning Board approved variances required for the project last year.
It will be at least four months before any major work begins officials said.
