Dollar Tree is setting up shop in at least one of the properties left vacant by Rite Aid after the drug store chain’s site closures this summer in the Bristol area.

On the day Lower Bucks Source featured the retail spot in our #FillTheSpot social media engagement effort Bristol Township source who asked not to be identified tipped off this digital community news outlet that Dollar Tree had taken over the space and changed the site’s colors from Rite Aid blue to Dollar Tree light green.

Lower Bucks Source’s Joanne Ames visited the 6900 block of New Falls Road site Tuesday morning. Work crews were apparently putting the finishing touches to shape-shift the store’s look as electrical work was being performed inside the retail store, which was originally known for all of its merchandise being $1.  That changed during the Coronavirus Pandemic when the company citing logistics issues, rising costs and theft of store merchandise began selling items at prices slightly more than $1.

A worker at the site said most of the work that needs to be done inside the store is close to completion and he thinks crews will be done with their punch lists by Sunday. He said it was unclear as to when the location would open but offered that shouldn’t be too far off.

None of the signage adorning the soon to be opened location indicated the planned “Open for Business” launch date.

The property, valued at around $3.1 million, is currently owned by Randy Cusuman, however, Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. is listed as the mailing address, according to Bucks County property records.

Attempts to reach Dollar Tree’s corporate offices for comment on when the site will go live were not immediately returned Tuesday.
