PennDOT: Lane Closures, Ramp Restriction on I-95 N in NE Philadelphia

Credit: Jeff Bohen - Lower Bucks Source

PennDOT announced that single and double lane closures and ramp restrictions will be in place on northbound I-95 on Tuesday night, ahead of a traffic shift into a long-term pattern for two years of northbound reconstruction at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

During the closure, ramp traffic will be directed to use northbound Aramingo Avenue, turn right onto Tacony Street, and turn right onto Bridge Street to access the ramp to northbound I-95. Alternately, traffic may detour south on Aramingo Avenue and turn left onto Castor Avenue to the ramp to northbound I-95.

The traffic shift will move three lanes of northbound and southbound vehicles to the southbound side and median between the Allegheny Avenue and Bridge Street interchanges by early Wednesday to allow for the start of northbound reconstruction.

The new pattern will connect with the six-lane construction pattern currently in place at the Bridge Street Interchange to create a continuous work zone from north of Allegheny Avenue to approaching the Cottman Avenue Interchange.

All scheduled activities are weather permitting. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for traveling on northbound I-95 north of Center City.
