Redevelopment work at the site of the Falls Township Municipal Complex started in earnest last week in Fairless Hills.

Work trucks were seen performing various removal duties and preparing the site for the work to come.

The Municipal Building Project was awarded in July to Rycon Construction in the amount of $19,230,000; and award the plumbing construction contract to Myco Mechanical, Inc., in the amount of $2,343,000

Last year the Board contracted Philadelphia-based IEI Architects for the municipal building design phase. .

At Monday night’s Board of Supervisors meeting officials will take up one more aspect of the project with a vote on a preliminary and final land development planned.

Work at the site is supposed to last until approximately October 2024, officials say.

Township administration offices and the police department relocated to a temporary space at 430-450 Lincoln Highway last month. The Supervisors, planning commission and zoning hearing board have been holding meetings at the Middletown municipal building since June. Both the temporary relocation and meeting space will remain in place until the municipal building construction is complete, a township press release says.

“Falls Supervisors had considered constructing a new and expanded municipal complex in 2017, but ultimately shelved the project due to the hefty price tag,”officials said
