Falls Seeks Playground Grant for Kids with Challenges

The Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved applying for a state grant that will pay for the installation of a handicap accessible playground at half the cost earlier this week.

The Board voted unanimously to authorize the submission of a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant. If awarded, the grant would fund 50 percent of the total cost of a handicap accessible playground, officials said, resulting in an estimated savings of $258,193.

Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews said the grant application is due April 3.

Chairman Jeff Dence said the playground, which is envisioned for phase two section of Falls Township Community Park, would be modeled after the “very popular” handicapped accessible playground already in place at phase part of park, a press release says.
