Falls Township is expected to begin reconstructing its next road as part of the yearly road program in July.

During Monday’s meeting, the Supervisors authorized advertisement of the 2022 road program, which entails the full-depth reconstruction of Pinewood Drive, as well mill and overlay work.

Bids would be opened on approximately June 15, with anticipated construction beginning on or about July 20, according to township engineer Joseph Jones.

Looking ahead, the Supervisors also approved professional engineering services from Jones Engineering Associates for the 2024 through 2029 road improvement program which focuses on full-depth reconstruction of 50 township roads in the Thornridge and Vermillion Hills sections of Falls. In all, the multi-year road reconstruction project is expected to cost $28.1 million – or roughly $4.7 million each of the six construction seasons.

Overall professional engineering services include surveying and base mapping, pavement core sampling and underground utility verification, engineering design, and bid administration. The total cost of engineering services related to the 2024 through 2029 road improvement program is projected to be $3.9 million.
