BCCC Honors Four with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Awards

Corporate, community, humanitarian, and student leaders received well-deserved recognition at Bucks County Community College’s (BCCC) fifth annual MLK Leadership Awards ceremony on its Newtown campus.

BCCC paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) with its annual MLK Leadership Awards on January 22 honoring individuals who embody the ideals of MLK. Bucks County dignitaries and elected officials also attended the celebration.

Dr. Patrick M. Jones, President & CEO of BCCC, presented each recipient with an engraved bell from Malmark Bellcraftsmen in Plumsteadville. Numerous elected officials were on hand to congratulate Community Leader Marlene Pray, Corporate Leader Angèle Bell, Student Leader Kayla Wulffleff, and Humanitarian Leader Barbara Simmons.

Angèle Bell, Community Engagement Lead at Merck – West Point Site, was recognized with the MLK Corporate Leadership Award. Dr. Jones and Dr. Vail Garvin, recipient of the 2023 Corporate Leadership Award congratulated the Skippack resident.

Marlene Pray, founder and director of The Rainbow Room at Planned Parenthood Keystone and a volunteer on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, was awarded the MLK Community Leadership Award. Dr. Jones and 2025 Community Leader Angela Nutter congratulated Pray.

Barbara Simmons, Executive Director of The Peace Center, was recognized with the MLK Humanitarian Leadership Award. Simmons was congratulated by Dr. Jones and 2025 Humanitarian Leader Damita Harvey Harris.

Kayla Wulffleff, an early education major at Bucks County Community College, was recognized with the MLK Student Leadership Award. Dr. Jones and 2025 Student Leader Leah Lovelace-Square congratulated Wulffleff.
