The joyous sounds of little boys and little girls climbing on the monkey bars in Morrisville’s Manor Park Playground came one step closer to becoming reality last week.

Morrisville Borough Council unanimously approved contracts for work to be done at the site with an eye on completion before summer’s end, officials said last month.

The contract for the site work and installation of the  playground equipment was awarded to Premier Builder Inc  while the purchase of the playground equipment purchase went to  General Recreation Inc. through Costars.

Jacob Brink of Gilmore & Associates, Inc. said they had to bid out the project with site work and installation of the playground equipment as one contract and the purchase the playground equipment itself would be through Costars for a General Recreation Inc.

“We received two bids, Premier Builder Inc being the lowest bid for $201,598 and then the playground equipment purchase itself. We’re recommending to go with the supplier, General Recreation Inc., and they would be providing landscape structures Inc equipment for a total of $147,720.”

Manor Park Playground, located at 98 Penn Ave in Morrisville and nestled among homes of residents sits next to the long-vacant building once known as Manor Park Elementary School and shares the parking lot for the Morrisville Senior Center.

The project is funded by a Bucks County Community Development block grant in the amount of $300,000.

Also at last week’s meeting Morrisville Borough awarded a road paving contract at just under 1.4 million to James D Morrissey to pave 7.5 miles of roadways in wards number one and two
