Spring is in the air and that means, little league baseball is not far behind!
Morrisville Council announced little league play and festivities at Tuesday nights meeting.
Umpires will be able call out loud “Batter Up” opening day April 5th. Of course before any balls and strikes are call the traditional season opening day parade is slated for 10 a.m. starting at Summerseat and ending at the island. A Rain date is scheduled for April 12th.
This year marks 70 years since 1955, the year Morrisville Borough’s Little Leaguers won the world championship; a tournament held in Williamsport, PA for players 10-12. That year, people got to see 88-year-old Cy Young threw out the first pitch, and Morrisville won an extra innings game when right fielder Rich Cominski led off the bottom of the seventh inning with the first walk-off, series-winning home run, according to Morrisville Little League officials A lot of history made that year.
Last year, the League also accomplished great things. Hopefully, Morrisville is destined to accomplish more great things creating memories that will last a lifetime.
