Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K Scheduled for March 15, Road Closures to be in Place

Road closures will be in place for the Shamrock Shuffle 5K which offers a run through historic Newtown Borough.

Run begins at 9 a.m on Saturday, March 15.

Registration and start finish line is located at Newtown Borough Hall on 23 North State Street in Newtown.

Temporary Road Closures will start at 7 a.m on Saturday March 15. If you live on the 5K Run route, please consider alternate routes and allow extra time for travelling.  Local businesses will be open for business and the Police Department will assist as much as possible to help with travelling in Newtown.

The roads will be reopened as soon as all participants are safely across the finish line. See attached map of the 5K Route.

Road  closures include:

  • 7 a.m. – North State Street between Washington Avenue and Greene Street – for event setup in front of Borough Hall North State Street ( Washington Avenue – Edgeboro Drive
  • 8:30 a.m.
    • Greene Street ( North State Street – North Congress Street )
    • Edgeboro Drive ( North State Street – Linton Hill Road )
    • Frost Lane ( Edgeboro Drive – North Lincoln Avenue )
    • Jefferson Street ( North Sycamore Street – North Lincoln Avenue )
    • Liberty Street ( Washington Avenue – Jefferson Street )
    • North Congress Street ( Washington Avenue – Frost Lane )
    • North Chancellor Street ( Washington Avenue – Frost Lane )
    • Federal Lane
    • Jefferson Street at North Sycamore Street ( Newtown Township )
  • Parking Restrictions:
  • 6 a.m. – No parking on North State Street between Washington Avenue and Greene Street (event setup).
  • No overnight parking in the Newtown Borough Hall parking lot located at 23 North State Street.

Additional information: Any person attending the event follow your Shamrock information packet.  NO PARKING ALONG THE RACE ROUTE!
