Herds of deer in and around the Bristol area are a common site, however, a fawn camping out in the front yard of a home in a high-traffic densely populated area led to concerns beginning Monday.

Local officials checked in on a fawn that has camped out – sort of – in the front yard of a home in the Venice Ashby section of Bristol Township since Monday morning.

Hazel Burdge-Taylor published a post on a Bristol area Meta page Monday morning concerned about the fawn’s well-being and safety. Burdge-Taylor thought the deer could be injured and might need medical attention because, as she described, the fawn seemed to have an unstable gait.

Officials stealthily scanned the area surrounding the 1600 block of Foster Ave Circle where it was camping out. The fawn apparently relocated to another location overnight but returned to the same front yard this morning.

Officials returned, located and checked in on the fawn.

Over the last two weeks three deer were struck by vehicles in and around Bath Rd, according to officials.

Thankfully, officials on site, said the deer discovered a berry tree to snack on and noted no apparent injuries.

“It’s scared and lost, but physically ok … and will hopefully reunite with other deer in the area,” the official said in a text exchange Tuesday afternoon.

“Simply a precious creature who got separated from her family… hopefully she’ll return to the forest soon,” the official said.

Burdge-Taylor, said late last night the fawn was still in the area.
