NWS: Blizzard Conditions, Winter Storm Remain On-going in Bucks, Monday

A major winter storm, according to the National Weather Service (NWS),  continues through Monday impacting the region.

Very heavy snowfall and areas of blizzard conditions are expected. Moderate to heavy snowfall with rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour or more will persist into the morning hours. The heavy, wet snow will stick to trees and power lines, resulting in scattered tree damage and power outages. Record breaking snowfall totals are possible, said forecasters.

Impacted areas include the PA and NJ counties of  Lower Bucks, Upper Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia, Eastern Montgomery, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Northwestern Burlington, and Cumberland-including the cities of Morrisville, Chalfont, Doylestown, Lansdale, Philadelphia, Media, Norristown, Perkasie, Moorestown,, Glassboro, Camden, Mount Holly, Pennsville, Millville, and Cherry Hill, as of the 2:39 a.m. NWS update.

According to NWS the blizzard warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday evening. Additional snow accumulations between 5 and 12 inches. Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour. Winds can gusts high as 45 mph. Portions of southern New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania are affected.

Officials remind all that travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and result in isolated power outages.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1, said NWS.
