Prokopiak announces state funding for Middletown Township projects

State Rep. Jim Prokopiak, D-Bucks, recently announced the approval of two state grants that will support critical infrastructure and public service improvements in Middletown Township through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account program.

The funding will assist with a major roof replacement project at the Middletown Township Municipal Center and upgrades to water meter technology serving Middletown Township residents.

Middletown Township has been awarded up to $466,640 in LSA funding to support the replacement of the roof at the Middletown Township Municipal Center in Bucks County.

The Municipal Center roof is currently experiencing severe leaks that have damaged ceiling tiles and interior surfaces. The project will include a full roof replacement, necessary masonry repairs, and restoration of water-damaged interior areas.

“Replacing the Municipal Center roof is essential to preserving a critical public building, preventing further damage, and ensuring uninterrupted municipal services for Middletown Township residents,” Prokopiak said.

In a separate award, the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority received $140,860 in LSA funding for a project benefiting Middletown Township and Lower Southampton Township. The total project cost is $150,660, with the Authority contributing $9,800 in committed funds.

This project will replace outdated water meters with an Automatic Meter Reading system. The new technology will automatically collect and transmit water usage data, improving efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness in day-to-day water system management. LSA funds will be used for equipment purchase and installation, as well as administrative costs.

The grants are funded through the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The program supports projects in the public interest across Pennsylvania, including construction, renovation, infrastructure improvements, equipment purchases, engineering, and certain administrative costs.

In addition to these Middletown Township grants, Prokopiak announced further state funding alongside state Sen. Steve Santarsiero for several important community projects, including the Bucks County Technical High School Field House/Gymnasium Project, the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, the Morrisville Fire Department, Tullytown Borough, and Falls Little League.
