Yardley’s Memorial Day 2025 Events and Road Restrictions

A complete list of Yardley Memorial Day 2025 events, including road closures and detours, was posted on Facebook by Yardley Boro and the Yardley Boro Police Department.

First up are the road detours and closures that the Yardley Borough Police Department will institute in support of Memorial Day activities in the Borough on Monday, May 26.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., Main St. will closed from the area of the Knowles-Doyle American Legion Post 317 to the Wayfaring La. in support of the Memorial Main Street Mile.

At approximately 8:35  a.m., traffic will be closed on:

  • Delaware Av. between Brown St. and Ferry St.
  • E. Afton Av. between Delaware Av. and Canal St.

The closures will remain in effect until the conclusion of the Memorial Day Observance ceremony organized by VFW Post 6393 and American Legion Knowles-Doyle Post 317 at the Yardley Veterans Monument.

At approximately 10:35 AM traffic will be closed on:

  • The length of Main Street from Maplevale Dr. to Yardley Commons.
  • Afton Av. from Breece Dr. to Canal St.

Additionally. parking will be prohibited on South Main St. from 2 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade. If you are traveling in this area, please expect detours, operate with caution and follow the directions of the police officer or auxiliary police officer.

Now let’s look at the Memorial Day events for Monday, May 26.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday – May 26, 2025, rifle salutes will be issued at Slate Hill, St. Ignatius and St. Andrews cemeteries, before Yardley Borough Hall and at the LMT Veterans monument. Observers are invited to attend these short and historical ceremonies. Attendees need only wait for the Honor Guard to pass through or follow the troop convoy leaving from American Legion Post 317 at 7 a.m.

The Main Street Memorial Mile is a one mile race to benefit American Legion Post #317 and beginning at Wells Fargo Bank and ending at The Friends Meeting House. Runners must pre-register for this time event. Kids Heat (6-14) starts at 7:45 a.m., the adult Heat at 8 a.m.

The official honoring ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at the Yardley monument (intersection of Afton and Delaware Avenues across from the Yardley Inn). This year’s guest speaker is: US Army Iraq War Veteran Michelle Lynette Rivera. The Memorial Day Singer is Marge Swider. Reading Flanders Field is Martha Houston. American Legion Poppy Queen is Charlotte Carver, VFW 6393 Poppy Queen is Elaina Cummings.

The parade steps off at 11 a.m. at North Main Street and Jervue Avenue, ending at American Legion Post #317.

The day’s events are both educational and historical. They effectively demonstrate the efforts of Veterans, community and government to promote Americanism and to pay proper regard to all who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live in freedom. VFW Post 6393 and American Legion Post 317 will be open for supporters and community visitors throughout the day.
