The Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County state law makers announced Wednesday at a press conference in Bristol Borough, $1.75 million in grants will be made available to eligible families and individuals whose primary residence is located in Bucks County and was damaged by flooding on July 12.

State Senator Tommy Tomlinson, and State Representatives, Tina Davis, and K.C Tomlinson, Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, and Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen, were on hand for the announced support of families impacted by the July flash flooding. 

The Neighborhood Flood Assistance Program is funded by a $1.75 million grant secured by the lawmakers from the Department of the Community and Economic Development and will be administered by BCRDA. The program’s goal is to offer financial support to those who faced significant property loss or damage and were uninsured or underinsured. Assistance will not be given to landlords, businesses, or non-profit organizations.

Eligible homeowners and tenants should submit an application along with the required supporting documentation through the Redevelopment Authority’s e-application portal available on its website at www.bcrda.com. Applicants will need to provide documentation to show primary residency, proof of property damage, and costs incurred as a result of the flooding event.

“I am proud to have worked together with this group of legislators to secure this $1.75 million to directly help the families that suffered damage from the flood of July 12^th. This money will go to help offsetting the cost of the damages incurred from that once in a lifetime storm. We have been working on securing this funding and developing the program tirelessly for weeks. I want to thank all of the staff for their constant effort on behalf of the community. My office will be open and available to help constituents submit their applications online,” said Tommy Tomlinson.

The storm devastated Bensalem and Bristol Townships, and Bristol Borough with dozens of  homes being condemned in all three municipalities.

“When my colleagues and I looked into the eyes of these residents, and saw the devastation that was left behind, we knew that we needed to step up. I am happy that we were able to work in a bi-partisan fashion to secure this important funding, and thankful that the BCRDA was willing and able to take on the critical task of developing and implementing this important program. This money will not make everyone whole again but will provide some much-needed relief,” Davis said.
